So we decided to take on Pam Del's thrift shop challenge and spend only $20 or less (pretax) and guess what..we found TWO outfits for less than $20! And we were only at Goodwill for approximately an hour!
You might be thinking, I don't thrift shop because it takes too long to find the treasures, but if you have the right mindset, it doesn't have to take that long. We went right to the racks we wanted to look through and just started sorting through it, grabbing anything that caught our eye. Don't think too hard on something, just grab it and try it on.
Then I headed to the shoe section and flew through the shoes like I do at Nordstrom Rack and BAM there were the black strappy sandals! Jackpot!
I can't say that I am much of a thrift shop shopper, but this was way too much fun! It's like going on a scavenger hunt and finding all of the items and winning the prize...money left over for Starbucks!
I have a girlfriend that is literally the QUEEN of thrift shopping and the stuff she finds is incredible. I used to tell her to grab me anything she thinks I would like and she would find Coach purses, Coach shoes, Banana Republic, Kate Spade, etc. You name it and she could find it and she used to tell me how much she loved the challenge of finding the GOOD stuff. Now I know what she means. I have learned a lot from her over the years - thanks Barb :)
The stripe shirt is Madewell ($3.99), the pants are from American Eagle (on sale for $1.99!) and the bell bottom jeans are Treasure & Bond ($4.99)!
I am definitely going to start thrift shopping more often and you have to check out Pam Del's instagram page - she puts together the BEST outfits. Check it out here. Love it!
So tell us, do you thrift shop? Where do you shop? If you haven't tried it yet, do it! And if you need someone to go with, hit me up!

soooo thrift stores, not gonna lie, I’ve had some pretty awesome luck at thrift stores over the past couple of weeks! now of course, this is not a knock on my all-time favorites pacsun and urban outfitters, it’s more of a genuine compliment!
last weekend, kate and I went to a very high end thrift store, Plato’s Closet, near our town, a friend of mine always recommends it and kate really wanted to try it out! (plus it was something we could do for the blog!) it took quite a lot of digging, but we finally found great items that worked with our style and comfort level. I personally loved everything I tried on but I only kept like three items because you know, the struggle is real when it comes to paying for clothes when I don’t have a job! the only other time I had been in plato’s closet was for a brief few minutes so it was really exciting being able to walk around and really take my time! i am most definitely going back there, especially because their spring line just came out! highly recommend!
now, the outfits my mom and i put together are from the goodwill in my town! i had never been to this goodwill, but it was great! my mind was set on finding a ralph lauren shirt (which I cropped), and kate found for me, so overall I was happy with our visit! but my mom wanted us to create looks! so I had to find pants, quite a struggle for me personally! but I found these like khaki/cargo/some kind of material high-waisted, boot legged pants that I thoroughly enjoyed (and have already worn like 3 times)! so I just went with it, I guess it kind of makes an outfit but hey, better than purple leggings, a neon green shirt and a pink sweatshirt!
overall, my thrifting experiences have been pretty good! what I have come to realize is that it all really depends on how much time you spend in the store and where/what you’r looking for! when you go into a thrift store, you gotta be on a mission! then trust me, you’ll find what you’re looking for!
